  • The Board of Directors of the Bank is responsible for the strategic direction of FAB. As the highest policy decision making body, reporting directly to the Shareholders of the Bank, the Board provides strategic direction and focus for the Bank. It also oversees processes for evaluating the adequacy of internal controls, risk management, financial reporting & compliance with the relevant regulations as well the Bank's Code of Conduct in the best interests of shareholders. The Board accomplishes these functions acting directly & through its various committees. The FAB Board comprises individuals of high repute and integrity and reflects the diverse nature of the Bank's ownership.

    Karen Akinwumi-Tanoh

    Chairperson

    Karen is an accomplished Ghanaian Banker with Audit, Consulting and Banking experience spanning 3 decades and has practiced in several countries including Ghana, Togo, Sierra Leone, Angola, UK and the USA.
    Karen’s career in Banking spans 22 years, the last at Managing Director level. Over the last 22 years, Karen has been significantly responsible for the growth and establishment of Ecobank in Ghana, Sierra Leone and Angola. Her core competencies include Strategy Formulation, Corporate Finance, Banking, Accounting & Auditing, and Networking.

    Odun Odunfa

    MD/CEO

    Odun has two and a half decades of banking experience that is uniquely relevant, to leading First Atlantic Bank in the next phase of its growth strategy. Prior to this, he was the CEO/Managing Director at Kedari Capital Ltd and served in various capacities on the First Atlantic Bank's Board of Directors. 
     
    He brings to the role a wide-ranging experience spanning Treasury, Corporate, Investment and Retail Banking in Fountain Trust, Citizens, Ecobank, Capital Bank International and UBA Plc.

    John Emmanuel Amakye Jnr

    John is a lawyer by profession with over 34 years experience as a legal practitioner. Called to the Bar in 1979, he has contributed immensely to the legal profession in Ghana. His successful legal profession has been fueled by extensive executive education training programmes. He is a member of the Board of Pasico Ghana Limited, Twifo Oil Palm Plantations Ltd and Chairperman of First Atlantic Asset Management Company.

    Oye Balogun

    Member

    Oye is a versatile entrepreneurial executive with over 20 years experience in legal practice, property and infrastructure  development. He is a Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, having graduated from the University of Ife, Ile Ife in 1990 (Now Obafemi Awolowo University) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991.

    Oye is the Principal Partner at Oye Balogun & Co, a commercial law firm  based in Lagos Nigeria. He is also the Managing Director of  J B Maye PDC Ltd, a real estate and infrastructure development company in Lagos Nigeria and a Director in Kedari Capital Ltd, an investment banking firm based in Lagos Nigeria.

    He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria.

    Dr. Wale Olawoyin

    Adewale A. Olawoyin obtained an LL.B degree from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1987, an LL.M from the London School of Economics & Political Science in 1990 and a Ph.d from the University of Bristol in 1995. His particular area of specialised academic interest is company law and admiralty law. He is presently a partner in the law firm of Olawoyin & Olawoyin, Lagos, which specialises in domestic and international commercial and corporate law.

    Wale is also a senior lecturer in the Department of Commercial & Industrial Law in the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos. He has published articles on topics in carriage of goods by sea, arbitration, admiralty jurisdiction and company law in a number of international journals such as the Journal of Maritime Law & Commerce, Journal of African Law, the Journal of International Banking Law and Regulation, Journal of International Arbitration, and the American Review of International Arbitration. He is a director of public and private companies as well as charitable organisations in Nigeria.

    Emeka Onwuka

    Emeka Onwuka is a Chartered Accountant with 21 years banking experience and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA). He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Enterprise Bank Ltd, since August 7 2011. He also sits on the Board of FMDQ OTC PLC, a self- regulatory organization, licensed by the Securities & Exchange Commission as an over-the-counter (OTC) market. 

    He also worked with Diamond Bank in Nigeria from May 2005 to April 30, 2011 where he retired as the Group Managing Director/ CEO. During his tenure, he led a successful recapitalization of the Bank through private placement, listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and Initial Public Offering in 2005, as well as the acquisition of Lion Bank Plc and its integration into the Bank in 2005. The seamless integration process earned Diamond Bank an award as the “Best Bank in Mergers and Acquisition in 2006”.

    Considering his background, Emeka has gained achievements in branch networking, balance sheet, business milestones, partnerships with International Financial Organizations and corporate social responsibility organizations.

    Emeka has won several awards both locally and internationally.

    Ben Gustave Barth

    Ben has 11 years experience in Banking both locally and abroad. He has worked for Banks such as Ecobank (Gh.) Ltd, Ecobank Transnational Ltd and Citigroup Inc, New York. He has an in-depth understanding of commercial banking, especially consumer and wholesale banking. Ben has supervised some of the most sophisticated means of deploying cards as a product in different markets.

    He is a results-driven management and finance professional with a global perspective and international exposure; he has experience in business strategy development, finance, strategic marketing, operations and project management.

    Ben graduated from the University of Ghana Business School with a Bsc. Administration (Banking & Finance) in 1999. He earned an MBA (Finance & Strategy) from the Harvard Business School, Massachusetts, USA in 2006.

    Patience Asante

    Executive Director - Risk & Controls

    Patience is a consummate Finance professional and results driven Risk Management expert with over 19 years of demonstrable experience in credit governance, risk management, project finance, innovative in credit structuring, product development for corporate and retail markets. She is a skilled risk manager with proven senior level experience in credit management and administration. Before joining First Atlantic Bank, Patience successfully managed the Risks Assets portfolio of over GH¢750 million and $250 million at both Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) as Director of Credit and Risk Management and as Head of Credit at   the United Bank for Africa (UBA) respectively.
    She commenced her banking career as a financial Analyst in 1997 and rose to the rank of Deputy Manager, Risk Management in 2006 with Ecobank Ghana limited. From 2006 to 20012 she played various roles in Risk management and Finance functions at Woolwich Building Society, European Social Fund in the United Kingdom and the International Bank in Liberia as its Head of Credit.
    Patience holds a Bsc (Hons) Business Administration (Banking and Finance) degree and a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Ghana. 
     
     

    Daniel Marfo

    Daniel is a consummate Corporate and Investment Banker with seventeen years of experience in corporate banking and investment banking with excellent deal origination, structuring, credit and leadership capabilities. He also has a vast understanding of the investment landscape both home and abroad.

     Prior to joining First Atlantic Bank, he had worked in various capacities with Standard Chartered Bank, Barclays Bank, Ecobank Group, Cal Bank and Fidelity Bank where he was Director, Corporate Banking . Daniel is constantly engaged in building and managing key relationships at governmental  and institutional levels   as well as with international bodies operating in Ghana.

    Daniel holds a BSc. (Hons) Mining Engineering, (First Class Honours) from the University of Science & Technology, Kumasi, LLB (First Class) Mouncrest University College, Accra and an MBA (Finance), Lancashire Business School, England.

    Marie-Louise Prah

    GM, Human Resource

    Marie-Louise is an HR professional with extensive experience in driving change processes and developing talent. She is currently the General Manager/Human Resource & Administration of First Atlantic Bank. As a Divisional Head, she is responsible for controlling costs and providing strategic direction for the management of the Bank's human capital.

    Marie-Louise has previously worked with ELF Oil (Ghana Ltd) as head of HR and in various capacities within the human resource function of Bank for Housing and Construction. As a human resource professional, she has played vital lead roles in driving growth in the human capital base, developing reward, performance improvement, monitoring & evaluation systems and applying job analysis frameworks to develop generic job descriptions for several distinct job families.

    Her skill set and expertise include Manpower Planning and Talent Resourcing, Human Capacity Training & Development, Talent Management & Succession Planning among others

    Olugbenga Ogundele

    Chief Operating Officer

    Olugbenga Ogundele joined First Atlantic Bank as Chief Operating Officer following a successful career with Intercontinental Bank and a stint with Access Bank after its merger with the former. In his more than a decade of core banking experience, Mr. Ogundele has no doubt touched virtually all aspects of contemporary banking, garnering all the rudiments of 21st century professional banking. A Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Banker, he also holds a Bachelors Degree in Banking and Finance and an MBA. His banking career started from one of the leading banks in Africa, First Bank of Nigeria Plc before joining Intercontinental Bank Plc. Olugbenga was appointed a member of the team to establish Intercontinental Bank Ghana Ltd in February 2006 as Chief Inspector. He was one of the pioneering management officers and a key member of the Executive Committee who made significant contributions to the transformation of the Bank into one of the fastest growing Banks in Ghana in 2008 and also the fourth best company in Ghana's Club 100 in 2011. He served in different capacities before IBG merged its operations with Access Bank in 2012.

    Kwesi Nimako

    Chief Finance Officer

    Kwasi is a Chartered Accountant with impeccable financial management credentials spanning over 16 years in the banking and Telecommunication industry.  He has an in-depth knowledge and demonstrable experience in Financial Control, Audit, Risk Management, Treasury and Performance Management functions.

    Kwasi joined First Atlantic Bank from OMNI Bank (Union Savings and Loans) and  has had working experience at Barclays Bank, G.S Telecom Africa and Pricewaterhouse Coopers Ghana and Fidelity Bank where he rose to the position of Finance Director.

     He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Cape Coast .

    Ama Biremba Ghartey

    Treasurer

    Ama has over 10 years working experience in investment, trading, risk and treasury management with extensive knowledge of both the local and Global markets.

    She is well experienced in balance sheet management with emphasis on structuring, identification of risks, mitigation of balance sheet risks and maximizing the efficiency of the balance sheet.

    Prior to joining First Atlantic Bank, Ama   was the Deputy Treasurer and Head, ALM at Fidelity Bank. At Fidelity Bank she also worked as  Acting Treasurer , ALM Manager, FX trader and Money Market dealer. She served as a Portfolio manager at Gold Coast Securities after commencing her Finance career with SwapStream (Subsidiary of Chicago Mercantile Exchange) in the United Kingdom.

    She is  currently the President of the Financial Markets Association (ACI Ghana) and works in close collaboration with the Financial market, the Central Bank and other stakeholders to push for policy changes and developments on the financial market. She is also involved in certifying market practitioners and other simulation based training for the market.

    Ama is a certified dealer (ACI dealing certificate) and holds a Masters Degree in Financial Management from the Durham Business School, Durham University, United Kingdom.

    Francis M. Kugblenu

    Head, Information Technology

     

    Mr. Kugblenu joined the First Atlantic Bank team in October 2012. With his background in IT Service Management and Project Management, Francis joined the Bank to support the ongoing

    With over 9 years I.T experience in the Financial Services Industry, Francis has managed the successful implementations of Core Banking and other systems for UT Bank, Bank of Africa and Fidelity Bank. As Project Controller at Fidelity Bank, Francis successfully managed the team of Technology, Operations and external vendors to deliver the technologies driving the Bank’s transformation.

    He holds a BSc in Computers Science and Statistics from the University of Ghana and a Post Graduate Certificate in Computer Science from the Blekinge Institute of Technology.
